Little Homemaker! (Minus the dreadlocks:)

This cupboard was made for my mom by my great grandfather, Fred Matz. This apron was also my mom's when she was little. They suit Petra well!

The Denver Zoo

Our good friend Greg and former resident of Denver is an avid Zoo goer. He told us a while back that the Zoo in Denver is a good one. Today, Joseph, Petra, Jeff and I decided to do away with naps all together and check out the wildlife. Petra can now say "monkey" with great accuracy. We saw a lot of cool stuff and will surely be back.

More friends from the hood....

This is Jocie and Sarah. They are our good friends that live on our block. Sometimes Jocie comes over to play, and Jeff and I watch Petra's world slowly crumble as she realizes that she is no longer the center of our universe. These visits make us see the importance of maybe having at least one more child.

The man pictured here is another neighbor. He and his wife own the exact same van as Jessi and Jesse, and you can find pictures of the sibling vehicles on their website at spacevan87.blogspot.com. Neighbor: "Oh what a special rock you brought to me. It's special because it's smooth and shaped like a moon!" -Petra then walks away, walks back, hands him the rock, "Oh what a special...." and this was repeated about 20 times. Petra loved it.

4th of July Block Party

Since September, we have lived in this really cool neighborhood on the edge of town. Every year, the neighbors have a big potluck, beginning with a parade, and ending with games for the kids.

Petra walked up to a woman that lives across the street from us (who she has never met before), demanded to be picked up, and would not come to Jeff or me willingly after that. It was very funny.

Finally, some real friends!

While on Pearl Street today, Petra met some kids that she really connected with. Even though they were made out of bronze, she really enjoyed their overall compliance with her commands and poking. I see some play dates in the future!

In Style Summer Edition

Petra would like to extend a gracious thank you to all of you who have made it possible for her to have a stylish summer this year. Without you, she would just be a cute face with ugly clothes!

Baby Model of the Year!

We have been encouraging Petra to work on her headshot "looks" early on in life so that her modeling career can really take off. I realize these don't even compare with "Blue Steel," but here's a preview of her looks entitled "Pink Summer," and "Blazing Sun," (both of which we shouldn't even be talking about right now....)

megapixel shmegapixel

We took Petra to the Pearl Street Mall this morning for a bit of free entertainment. Jeff's ancient camera of 2 meggapixels takes better pics than our other with 10! Guess there's more to cameras than pixels!!!

Broke our camera.....

We have probably lost all of our followers by now, so here is a note to nobody....we not so recently broke our camera somehow, leaving us with little material for updating our blog. We will probably not get a new camera until I start my new job in September. (By the way, I got a full time music teaching job in South Boulder, and we are completely thrilled!) I am going to just write about Petra and our lives throughout the summer.

Here's what's new: Petra can imitate pretty much any word you say, so watch out potty mouths! She can walk, and run, and is working very hard on jumping. Lately, she has been using a severe scowl that she inherited from her mother when she wants to be sassy, which is most of the time. Tantrums are a regular occurrence, but they are never too severe. Petra can walk all by herself all the way to the park not that close to our house. One of her favorite pass times is eating the dirt in our garden while Daddy waters the plants. Petra's nanny, Parvaneh, moved to Texas for the summer, so Petra went through some clingy separation anxiety stuff recently. Mother and Daughter are at last enjoying some time together after a very long Spring semester!

That's all for now folks:)

Bad Bloggers

Sooooo.....I have not been a good blogger lately! Sorry to all of you who diligently check this sight every day for updates. I (Angelie) have been putting in 60 hrs a week between student teaching, my private music students, and my church job, leaving me little time for Petra and relaxing, cleaning and everything else a family life entails. Please don't give up on this blog and keep checking because who knows....you just might find some really cute pics like these!

Petra's Last Visit with Her Great Grandma Dorothy

Petra's Great Grandma Dorothy (Angelie's Grandma from her Dad's side) died on Friday. This came as a shock to those who knew and loved her because, as you can see in this video, she was her sassy little self during our Christmas visit (aside from some shortness of breath and circulation issue). Shortly after the new year, she went in for triple bypass heart surgery and never fully recovered. She was recovering, however, and was moved out of the ICU. Unfortunately, her almost 82 year old body could not handle such a major surgery and she has now passed on to bigger and better things. Rest in peace Grandma. WE MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU!

Baby Book Worm...

If you watch this whole video, you will get an idea of how quirky Petra is. We are convinced she has some imaginary friends.

The little mermaid?

Quite possibly the cutest underwater creature ever! Don't ask us why she does this....she just started dipping her face in the water, eyes open and all.

Tis' the season!

We put up a the christmas tree and then had a stocking party. Next we went to the Holiday parade in downtown Boulder. Petra is a little young yet to understand why we were standing in the cold as fire trucks drove by, but she was a trooper anyway.

Eva...here and gone:(

Petra got to spend some quality time with Eva in November. We miss you Eva!!!!!!!!!!!

The snow storm and Halloween!

We had a freak snow storm before halloween. Petra dressed up in her Winnie the Pooh fatsuit and was escorted by Prince himself for trick or treating.
